I have been an Archivist and Records Manager for 33 years. I am certified in both fields by their official certification bodies and a Fellow of the Society of American Archivists. As Vice Chancellor for the Archdiocese of Chicago, I designed and built the largest and most comprehensive integrated Archives/Records Management Program for any Catholic Diocese in the world. It had an annual budget of over 2 million dollars and had a full-time staff of 12 with dozens of interns and volunteers. During my 28 year tenure with the Archdiocese of Chicago (a not-for-profit organization) I served on many committees and boards most notably the Policy Committee (20 Years) which I chaired for 8 years. Working with the Archdioceses' IT and Legal departments, I was able to demonstrate the need for the Archdiocese to manage electronic records at their point of creation and to develop the appropriate metadata structures to ingest records born analog and converted to digital for long term storage based on appropriate legal, administrative or historical criteria.I served the Archdiocese of Chicago for 28 years, and currently work as a consultant specializing in enterprise-wide Information Content Management strategies.
