After completing my studies in The Netherlands, I worked with the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra, Banchetto Musicale, Concert Royal and Grande Bande. In San Francisco, I was co-principal cello with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and co-founder of the Arcadian Acdemy. I recorded with both of those groups, as well as Capella Savaria and Freiburger Barocksolisten. Show less

Jake Heggie's debut recording "Faces of Love" did particularly well and was selected as "Editor's Choice" in Opera News magazine. Handel's "Serse" was described by The Telegraph "The recording is faultless". A 4-CD series of recordings of Alessandro Scarlatti vocal cantatas featured David Daniels, Brian Asawa, Dominique Labelle and Christine Brandes.

Philharmonia baroque orchestra
Jan 2001 - Jun 2020Recording producer/engineerPhilarmonia Baroque Orchestra's record label PBP has released studio recordings and selected live concert recordings from the past 30 seasons. The recordings are issued as CDs,and high-resolution (24-bit 192kHz and 96kHz) paid downloads on HDTracks and QBuzz. Honors include GRAMMY nomination for "Best Orchestral Performance" and three releases selected for New York Times' annual "10 Best Classical Recordings". In 2015, the recording of Alessandro Scarlatti's "La Gloria di Primavera" was Editor's Choice in Gramophone Magazine (and was released as a surround-sound Pure Audio Blu-Ray).In addition, I've produced a monthly broadcast for KDFC for the past ten seasons. This consists of edited concert performances, announcements which I write, introductions narrated by Music Director Nicholas McGegan, and interviews with guest artists. The first one "Together" featured music of Clarice Assad and Astor Piazzolla, Bela Bartok and George Gershwin. The second one "Live" included Strauss' Metamorphosen, Barber Adagio for Strings and the Adagietto from Mahler's Symphony no. 5. The third recording “From A to Z” features commissioned violin concerti of Clarice Assad, William Bolcom, Michael Daugherty and Ellen Taafe ZwilichIn addition, I also record NCCO's local concerts for national broadcast on NPR. Recordings are done on location throughout Manhattan, with critical listening at The James L. Dolan Music Recording Studio (a state-of-the-art facility for audio engineering and research in spatial audio and perceptual studies). I also do some guest lecturing during the regular academic year. This ended the semester with the first-ever podcast initiative for Recording Arts students, all centred "in and around the Jacobs School of Music". Also taught a course in recording, mixing and editing on ProTools hardware and software.Duties also included producing recordings of faculty composers David Dzubay and Jeffrey Hass, as well as prize-winning student composers (all for the in-house IU record label). Also supervising audio student recording of "Der Rosenkavalier", "Candide", "Sleeping Beauty", two events at the IU Cinema (performed with live music accompaniment), in addition to many other live performances.
