In addition to this, I worked on additional electives in the realm of Finance, Management Consulting and Supply Chain Management.

Show less -This mentorship program introduces the opportunities & resources presented by the College of Engineering at Penn State to the incoming freshmen who are the aspiring & successful engineers of the future. -The program involves the mentor contacting the students during the summer via social media & introducing them to Engineering at Penn State. This helps to facilitate the transition from High School to College in a smoother fashion. -An one day orientation is held before the day of classes to allow the students to adjust to the environment & a tour of the campus resources like the labs & classrooms are given. -Time is dedicated in the schedule to personally know the students in the Mentor's group & any queries asked are answered. -Leadership Quality & Knowledge regarding the aspects of Penn State's College of Engineering is essential for this position. -The Computer Session mentorship requires the mentor to explain about Penn State's Computer resources to the incoming freshmen through a power point presentation. -Information about Lionpath & Canvas, which are needed for managing a student's academic & financial information, is mainly imparted in the presentation. -Since Lionpath & Canvas have been newly implemented by Penn State this year, it is necessary to convey the information to most incoming freshmen to assist them in getting used to the system. Show less The objective of the research was based on measuring the bioaccumulation of radium in benthic macro-invertebrates by using mussels as bio-indicators in western PA streamsWorked with the Assistant Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Dr.Nathaniel Warner for the research project. Participated at the 2016 Poster Presentation Exhibition to represent our findings and submitted a Research Paper at the end of the semester as part of the program The research raised concern from an environmental perspective as the bioaccumulation of Radium can have harmful effects on people and aquatic wildlife. Field sampling trips were made to find evidence for the suggested research. The CERI program helps to prepare the Student for Graduate School and facilitates the process of writing Thesis Papers needed for Graduate Studies.The program also provides seminars to build on attributes like teamwork and networking to make the maximum use of resources. Jun 2016 - Jul 2016Summer research internThis internship took place in the Department of Bio Sciences & Technology at Vellore Institiute of Technology (VIT). I worked in the labs of 3 different professors( Dr. Gothandam, Dr. Rasool & Dr.Babu) on rotation for learning molecular biological techniques. Various techniques like inoculation & streaking of cultures, plasmid & genomic DNA isolation, PCR, Agarose Gel Electrophoresis, SDS PAGE, HPLC, will be taught at the internship. I worked on a project as an assistant for finding integrons in Klebsiella pneumoniae by isolating the genomic & plasmid DNA with the help of specialized kits followed by Agarose Gel Electrophoresis. With the template obtained, the PCR was run which was followed by Agarose Gel Electrophoresis. I worked in the immunopathology lab for learning techniques like Western blotting, ELISA & Immuno fluorescence. I worked in the agricultural & environmental biotechnology lab for learning techniques like DNA extraction, 2D Gel Electrophoresis & Transformation.Two presentations were given about the progress of the internship.
