      As director of Instructional Services, I lead the daily operations and strategies of a high-performing team of enterprise instructional technology specialists, academic technology consultants, and learning designers in the ITS Office of Teaching, Learning and Technology. Instructional Services provides campus-wide support for teaching and learning through impactful, robust digital learning environments at an enterprise scale, as well as individualized consulting that supports pedagogically appropriate integration of technologies and instructional design best practices to support student success.Using strong leadership skills, I collaborate with groups across the institution to ensure Iowa's instructional technology services are responsive to instructor, student, and staff needs. Applying techniques and practices from areas such as digital transformation, service implementation, change management, cross-departmental collaboration, ITSM, and other frameworks, the Instructional Services team ensures Iowa's instructional technology and course improvement work is well aligned with the overall strategic mission of OneIT and the University of Iowa. From a project/service management perspective, I'm responsible for:Organizing campus wide communication about service changes. Working with campus partners to define business needs and use cases for customizations and integrations, working with our application developers to develop and deploy customizations and integrations. Participate in the monthly Multi-State Desire2Learn (or MSDL for short) users group conference calls.Gathering and tracking a variety of LMS related metrics (support tickets, usage metrics, etc). Investigating and assessing new services and integrations for existing services. As the LMS Technical Lead, I'm responsible for:Leading a cross-departmental/cross-functional team of technical staff responsible for the D2L and Canvas implementation at Iowa, following change management best practices to ensure stable services. Responding to incidents and outages, coordinating work to restore service functionality in the event of an outage. Filing support tickets with Desire2Learn, Canvas, and other vendors.Administering the University of Iowa Wiki Service (Confluence).As the LMS Support Team Lead, I'm responsible for:Managing staff on the LMS Support Team, coaching others on service management. Managing the University of Iowa Wiki Service (Confluence), Turnitin, and Respondus LockDown Browser services. Collaborating with the central IT help desk and campus partners on tier3 end user support. Maintaining and updating the LMS Support Blog and ICON twitter account.Defining and directing the creation of documentation and training materials for the LMS and other services.Identifying and implementing process improvements for the support workflow, finding ways in which services can better meet campus' needs.
