  Research used a combination of photolithographic DNA array synthesis and enzymatic reactions to detect mutations, specifically single nucleotide polymorphisms. This project involved the deployment of new substrates and attachment chemistries for in situ array synthesis I also assisted in the development of new chemistries for surface attachment of biomolecules. I also assisted in the development of isotopic labeling reagents for mass spectrometric analysis of metabolites. This work resulted in a patent application.
