Project: Modulation of the immune response by Yersinia enterocolitica

    • Universitätsklinikum hamburg eppendorf

      Aug 2009 - Feb 2010
      Bachelor student

Project: Induction and modulation of cellular stress and alarm signals by YersiniaAs part of my bachelor thesis, important aspects of the interaction between the enteropathogenic bacterium Yersinia enterocolitica and macrophages, had to be characterized at the cellular and molecular level. The focus was set on the analysis of the mechanisms that manipulate the immune response of macrophages and contribute to the survival of Yersinia in the host. Yersiniae suppress proinflammatory signalling pathways in infected cells and trigger apoptotic death in macrophages.Key techniques and skills obtained:Cell Biology, Molecular biology, Molecular Cloning, Dual-Luciferase-Report, Mammalian Two Hybrid System, RNA-Interference Method Show less
