      VP/General Manager

After learning the manufacturing business from the ground up my responsibilities included but were not limited to all tasks to move a customer from product packaging concept to product packed and ready for the market. As the VP/General Manager my responsibilities included managing and participating in all activities that kept the doors open: HR, payroll, tax preparation, sales, tool design and billing. Through strategic planning I took the company from a state of bankruptcy, Chapter 11, to a healthy competitor that commanded respect in the industry. In my HR capacity I designed, established, and implemented company-wide standards and policies. In the Accounting office, I oversaw the preparation of Corporate Tax Returns, established and inventory tracking system to include a Min/Max system for proprietary products, and managed Accounts Payables and Receivables. As the Sales Rep I was responsible for developing and maintaining working relationships with our vendors, customers, and the local community. One of the most important responsibilities in the manufacturing facility included reviewing the safety standards, ensuring were met and maintained. Show less

      Aug 2008 - now
      Instructor of Information Technology

Designer/Facilitator of 2 Computer Literacy courses: COSC 1301 Introduction to Computing and BCIS 1305 Business Applications. My philosophy is that students learn best in an experiential learning environment. Students spend most of their time working in small groups researching computer related topics and giving class presentations. Responsibilities:- Design a shareable Course Shell (Campus Cruiser - Blackboard - Canvas)- Implement and facilitate the courses- Manage the course and materials These courses have been taught in a variety of modalities: . (A unique shell is created for each)- Face-to-face traditional- Blended (51% of the class is conducted in a traditional face-to-face environment)- Distant Learning (100% online)- Open Entry/Open Exit (students start at various predefined times during a semester: 16 weeks, 12 weeks, 8 weeks)The COSC course covers:- History Career and Ethics of Computer Science or Information Technology Industry - Basic to Advanced instruction over Windows and Microsoft Office: - Word - Excel - PowerPoint - Access - Integration - Introduction to programming and we design (HTML)The students spend the majority of the semester working in small groups on a semester long project that takes them through the Engineering Invention Cycle creating a prototype product. As a Team they have to learn and work with magnetic circuity and 3D software. This is all in addition to the material required for the course. This course concludes with students holding a Poster Session Challenge where they market their prototype competing for trophies, "Best in Show", "People's Choice", and "Bang for the Buck". In addition to this semester long project the students do in class group activities involving research and presentations. The BCIS Course is similar but there is no semester long project and the students dig deeper into Microsoft Office Applications. Show less
