Vehicle Dynamics and Simulation Engineer @ PAL-V | Aerospace Engineering

  • Education

    • Technische Universiteit Delft

      2019 - 2022
Master of Science - MS Aerospace Engineering - Flight Performance & Propulsion GPA: 8.6/10

Thesis performed on the aerodynamic modelling of open rotor-wing-flap interactions with fast low-fidelity methods.

    • Technische Universiteit Delft

      2015 - 2018
Bachelor of Science - BS Aerospace Engineering GPA: 8.6/10

Activities and Societies: Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering (DARE), Delft Hyperloop Graduated Cum laude (with honors)

    • The University of British Columbia

      2017 - 2017
      Minor Entrepreneurship GPA: 9.1/10
  • Experience

    • Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering

      Sept 2016 - Jun 2017
      Hybrid Propulsion Engineer

Designed, manufactured and tested a hybrid rocket engine based on paraffin and sorbitol fuel and nitrous oxidizer

    • Delft Hyperloop

      Aug 2018 - Aug 2019
      Chief Engineer

Competed with a 40 member student team in the 2019 SpaceX Hyperloop Pod competition by designing, producing, testing and operating a pod that is able to reach 600+ km/hr in a 1.2 km long vacuum tube. We reached the finals as one of the top four teams from universities around the world. As Chief Engineer I was responsible for the quality and integration of the vehicle and as part of the management also for the general team matters.Managed six different technical departments each specialized in a specific subsystem. Tasks included:- Top-level design of vehicle- Management of the interfaces- Quality control of the designs and produced parts- Ensuring the designs are performance optimized within the limitations of the resources- Management of Verification & Validation process- Communicating and meeting with engineers- Systems engineering- Risk management- Requirements management Show less

    • Tesla

      Nov 2021 - May 2022
      Cell Development Intern

Prepared and led verification, validation, and commissioning efforts of prototype battery cell test equipment in the Gigafactory of Berlin-Brandenburg and at the location of Palo Alto, California.Performed characterization tests and data analysis on Tesla-manufactured 4680 lithium-ion cells to quantify cell characteristics of various cell designs.

    • PAL-V

      Jan 2023 - now

Supported R&D with aerodynamic and vehicle dynamics research. Developed a verification and validation plan for the PAL-V engineering simulator and assisted in validation preparations using a comparable commercially available aircraft. Enhanced the simulator (MATLAB) with improved input processing, non-rigid multibody dynamics, automated data processing, and failure mode analysis. Led the R&D of the Engine Cooling Subsystem of a road-legal gyrocopter aircraft by supporting and executing as the subsystem owner. Redesigned the cooling package and ducts, more than doubling the cooling performance and achieving the required cooling requirement. Successfully guided the subsystem through PDR and CDR milestones by demonstrating complete system compliance.
