University of Washington
Sept 2011 - May 2015Project Manager/Business AnalystResponsibilities: As a project manager and business analyst I am responsible for defining, managing the execution of, and successfully completing the projects I am assigned. Our IT office is relatively small, so in addition to the traditional PM/BA responsibilities I am also responsible for organizational change management, quality assurance, data analysis, documentation, training, and early life support for any new or modified application.Accomplishments:• Enabled a unit to process requests more efficiently, effectively, and transparently by eliminating duplicate data entry; automating the routing; standardizing workflow across 15 departments, two external organizations, and the Dean’s Office; and eliminating bottlenecks. The new application is now considered the most accurate source for that information.• Created unified processes to replace existing processes that had been developed by a dozen different departments and implemented differently across five states by selecting, negotiating a contract for, modifying, implementing, and managing the adoption of a vendor supplied curriculum management system for the School of Medicine and its five affiliated universities. • Launched a high profile application on time and with all required functionality after being assigned to rescue the dysfunctional and significantly behind schedule project by applying sound project management practices, establishing effective communications, and filling in for the quality assurance role that we did not have resources for.• Improved consistency across our office’s projects, increased the organizations project management maturity, and made it easier for business users to take advantage of our services by championing and executing the updating of project document templates and working with my peers to improve our project management practices. Show less • Project Manager and/or Business Analyst for many projects of various sizes across the organization.• Partnered with departments to improve processes using a DMAIC methodology.• Led organizational change management efforts for all projects.• Managed the project portfolio, including working with the Senior Leadership Team, Governance Committee, and other stakeholders for input and approval.• Implemented a project management methodology based on PMI’s methodology.• Grew the PMO over time by repeatedly demonstrating the value that the office brings.
