  I undertook a Year in Industry with Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd as part of my degree. I worked to successfully implement a new Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system: ‘Teamcenter PLM2020’. This was an international project and our team was responsible for the successful implementation at the UK site.My role at Siemens included:• Creating and delivering Teamcenter PLM2020 training to business contributors and end users.• Participating in change management processes to enable business readiness: updating process procedures; attending and engaging with multiple meetings and workshops, including running change request review meetings; assisting with the preparation and completion of system testing; aiding data migration and preparing communications to distribute throughout the business.• Participating in the Siemens Intern Development programme which was focused on soft-skill and personal effectiveness development and is paired with Franklin Covey online learning resources. • 4 weeks in the Combustion department using CFD software STAR-CCM+ to develop a model for a Swirler.• Volunteering with Siemens on various occasions, including: mentoring a school team in the SPARKler challenge kart building competition, marshalling at the Greenpower International Finals at Rockingham Motor Speedway and helping to run a STEM stand at Scampton airshow.   Junior Design Engineer

  I undertook a five week placement with PES, a high performance engineering design services business. I worked closely with their Technical Director, Engineering Director and their Senior Design Engineer on multiple projects.• I worked alongside their chartered senior design engineer on the design of two test rigs. This work involved producing CAD models and part & assembly drawings using Siemens NX12 in addition to providing the supporting calculations. • I worked on a reverse engineering project which aimed to produce a pump to compete with a competitor product. This involved writing the product requirements, dismantling the competitor product and subsequently producing an assembly tree and a system diagram for both the wiring and hydraulics.• I produced engineering drawings for other projects and had the opportunity to attend meetings with clients, including one on site at a foundry, for which I was subsequently involved with the quotation process.
