  Responsibilities: Whilst working at the very busy Westbury chemist as a pre-registration pharmacist, I gained the clinical and working skills and knowledge that is expected of a Pharmacist. Labelling/dispensing of prescriptions, repeat dispensing, requesting of medications, communicating with surgeries /healthcare professionals and customers, blister pack assembly, claiming of PGD’s and minor ailment schemes, CD & private drug entry, preparing CD’s, general housekeeping – were all some of the responsibilities I carried out daily.  I was also able to not only book customers in for flu and travel vaccinations/malaria treatment, but also shadowed the pharmacist whilst treatment was done, so have gained knowledge in this sector as well. During my time there, I was solely responsible for the ordering of medicines and appliances for the whole of the dispensary on a daily basis. I dealt with many wholesale dealers via phone/email, including: B&S- Colorama, Doncaster Pharmaceuticals, Medihealth, Centurion pharmaceuticals, Waymade, Chemilines, OTC direct, Sigma pharmaceuticals, AAH and Unichem/Alliance. As the pharmacy buyer, I gained new found knowledge on multiple special and special obtain items that were needed for many of our customers and this has expanded my medicinal knowledge. I also adjusted well to the 15-hour per day opening hours (9am-12pm) by working flexibly in two shifts which alternated weekly and am therefore able to cope during sociable and unsociable hours. Excellence: I introduced a new SOP of prescription owing fulfillment whereby the huge amount of owing items that were ordered would be placed in a special designated area and checked off against an Owings list that was made every morning – This resulted in all Owings being found and fulfilled at ease which created increased customer faith and satisfaction.
