      Daniel Alpern Award Cornell ILR School Apr 2023 The Daniel Alpern Senior Award was established in memory of Daniel Alpern, a junior in the College of Engineering, who left Cornell in June 1944 to serve in the Navy in World War II. Early in 1946 he wrote to the ILR admissions committee from Korea, expressing interest in transferring to the then newly established School of Industrial and Labor Relations, where his brother, Jerome, was a freshman. A month later, Daniel Alpern died in the line of duty.
