Responsibilities included all aspects of Estate Management (both Field & Factory), close liaison with Tea Brokers, Marketing Development and Head office. Job profile included overseeing the Administrative angle of Jokai Central Hospital (JCH), the Referral Hospital of the Company in Assam, Jokai Central Workshop (JCW), an independent profile Centre of the Company, Jokai Packaging Division (JPD) at Panitola, tea packaging Centre of the Company. During my tenure as in-charge of upcountry operations, I had successfully introduced various cost control measures at the Estate Levels. Responsible for getting the first ISO 9002, Certificate in a Tea Garden in Assam (Hattiali T.E.). I am familiar with the requirements of Major Domestic and Export buyers. RIL teas have been well received by all the sectors of the trade.   I was heading the tea operations of the Group in Assam, which comprised of Nine Tea Estates (9) producing 6.3 million kgs of premium Assam CTC & Orthodox teas.Created and implemented risk mitigation strategies for the business as well as diversification projects. Proposed projects to pursue consolidation of the company’s and promoters’ real estate asset base in Assam and create value propositions either through joint venture projects, sale of prime commercial land, hotel management institute and professionally managing distress tea estates(on the lines of a managing agency) among other initiatives.Heritage North East was the Group Company’s foray into tea tourism, a diversification venture of the Group. Properties included sprawling estate bungalows, a Villa in Shillong & a colonial manor at Jorhat. This venture has been well received by both domestic as well as international clients. Responsible for the gardens of Assam & West Bengal.Held 37 seminars spread over the tea districts of Assam, Darjeeling, Dooars, Terrai & Tocklai on ‘Technical aspects of Tea Manufacturing’ & ‘Improving HRD aspects in Tea Estate’ in collaboration with IIM Bangalore & IIM Kolkata.
