      OVERVIEW: Provided engineering expertise and advice, and managed investigations on the assessment of infrastructure needed to support the establishment of new gas-processing industries on the Burrup Peninsula near the Woodside Gas Plant at Dampier. Moved seamlessly across multiple projects, developing solid working relationships with Project Managers and effectively supported them on any issues to do with infrastructure capacities and constraints. CONTRIBUTIONS and HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED:► Consulted and negotiated with service providers, government agencies, community groups and stakeholders to ensure projects were carried out in accordance with relevant planning processes. ► Performed as Study Manager and Technical Reviewer for site selection studies, land use master plans associated with proposed major industrial developments, and concepts and designs for multi-user infrastructure. ► Commended by Executive Director for clarity of a presentation delivered to a meeting of the department’s top management concerning serious shortfalls in the capacity of power transmission networks in the Pilbara and their inability to meet the requirements of proposed new gas-processing industries.       OVERVIEW: Recruited to manage a pre-feasibility study for a proposed small-scale iron ore mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, taking into consideration risk issues associated with major rail and river crossings, together with road and rail options for hauling ore to the port in Port Hedland. CONTRIBUTIONS and HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED:► Led the delivery of a pre-feasibility study for a proposed DSO (iron ore) project in the Pilbara region, and a scoping study for a proposed DSO (iron ore) project in the Mid-West region of Western Australia, meeting all time and budgetary targets. ► Managed the preliminary design by a consultant of a slurry transport and water return pipeline system between a proposed magnetite mine and Port Hedland.       OVERVIEW: Provided technical advice and project and contract management support to the Stirling Alliance project management office for the development of large scale, complex and/or high-risk projects in implementing the Strategic Plan for the proposed Stirling City Centre. The Stirling City Centre was intended to become an integrated and modern mixed-use, transit-oriented strategic city centre based around a new light rail network. CONTRIBUTIONS and HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED:► Assessed and advised on major changes to infrastructure (roads, drainage, power, gas and telecommunications) in the most highly congested sector of the development area between Stirling Train Station and Scarborough Beach Road. ► Critically reviewed and assessed various consultant’s plans and reports to resolve inconsistencies and provide clarity to technical issues. ► Collated a package of cost estimates that were considerably more reliable than previous estimates, and which supported better-informed decision-making for scheduling the various individual projects into a sequence that financial experts could assess for future funding. Determined the drivers of major resource development projects and their associated need for export facilities. Provided wide-ranging engineering and technical information and advice to facilitate faster and better-informed decision-making by the Port Development team. KEY PROJECTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS:► PORT OF ASHBURTON - DEVELOPMENT OVERSIGHT: Assessed a diverse range of technical information received from the Foundation Proponent of the Wheatstone project to ensure that DPA’s requirements for the new port to be multi-user were met. Led conceptual planning for various elements including the configuration of infrastructure corridors, conceptual drainage layout, development of a concept to accommodate the passage of pre-assembled modules for future projects under a jetty structure carrying cryogenic pipelines, and negotiation of the changes with the Foundation Proponent. Provided technical input to development conditions that were included in decision notices for planning approval of major elements of port works carried out by the Foundation Proponent.► PORT OF ASHBURTON - CONCEPTUAL PLANNING: Provided extensive technical input to a land use and infrastructure plan for the new Port of Ashburton.► PORT OF CAPE PRESTON EAST - CONCEPTUAL PLANNING: Reviewed a diverse range of technical information from the Foundation Proponent of an iron ore project intending to develop a new export facility.► PORT OF DAMPIER: PLANNING REVIEW: Completed a technical review of an updated land use and infrastructure plan.► GENERAL PORT PLANNING: PORT DEVELOPMENT GUIDELINES: Provided extensive technical input into a new set of port development guidelines, applicable to all current and future port locations in the DPA’s jurisdiction.
