  Just for Kicks is a program under Top Soccer that give children with various disabilities the opportunity to participate in a non-competitive soccer setting. This helps boost confidence in the children. As a coach/volunteer, my job was to maintain a safe environment while also making sure the children have fun. Soccer is the sport of choice for this program but the main goal is to allow the children to get exercise outside and have fun doing so.

  Services provide one-on-one interventions to a child or adolescent at home, school, day care, YMCA, other community-based program, or community setting when the behavior without this intervention would require a more restrictive treatment or educational setting. TSS will utilize child specific antecedent, behavioral/teaching, consequent and reinforcement intervention techniques, structured activities specifically for that child, de-escalation techniques and additional psychosocial rehabilitative activities as prescribed in the treatment plan.   Intern for Autism Initiative

  The goal of the PaTTAN Internship Program is to expose pre-service candidates to the assorted operations of the PaTTAN system and its support of special education services through training and technical assistance throughout the Commonwealth. It is anticipated that by working on various assignments with consultants from the different initiatives the candidate will be able to synthesize the knowledge found in his/her course work with that of the practical internship experience to gain skills and insights that can be utilized later in a career.   I put into practice skills and theories learned in the excellent courses at York College of Pennsylvania as well as skills and theories of my assigned cooperating teachers. I acquired full responsibility of a 4th grade regular education class that included 8 students with IEP's for learning disabilities. My regular education cooperating teacher co-teachers with my special education cooperating teacher so I was able to develop my skills as a co-teacher. I then took over responsibility as my learning support cooperating teacher for his small group instruction with 2nd and 4th grade as well as continued to co-teach whole group with my 4th grade regular education cooperating teacher.
