      The Kern County Department of Public Health protects and safeguards the health and safety of the communities in Kern County. As a Health Educator I was responsible for managing the HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention Program and supervising program staff. Program activities included conducting HIV/AIDS education sessions with at-risk individuals such as juvenile youth offenders, migrant farm-workers, substance abusers, and incarcerated adults. Monitored program activities conducted by subcontracting agencies. Prepared annual budgets and managed program expenditures. Developed and submitted quarterly reports on program activities to the Office of AIDS at the California Department of Health Services. Show less

Major duties included conducting needs assessments and developing interventions to address identified needs. Administrative duties included staff supervision, budget preparation, and submission of contractual and departmental reports. I also functioned as a liaison between Kern Health Systems and various member, community, and governmental committees, task forces and coalitions.
