Sept 1983 - Jul 1984Graduate Trainee _ EngineeringMy first job! - a graduate trainee position that allowed me to spend time in the areas of factory maintenance, production and finally capital project management.Attended a range of courses giving a foundation in the skills needed for successful capital project management .Undertook projects to redesign the packing area of a large plant bakery and also another project to develop a van wash facility for large trucks.

Both teams support food manufacturers by delivering commercially focused research, technology, training and consultancy based solutions to aid process and product innovation. Leadership priorities: Technical strategy for the team, line management and personal development.Commercial responsibilities: P&L delivery for the budgeted income and its strategic growth.Led a number of collaborative R&D programmes within the UK and EU - established and delivered the Food and Health Innovation Service in Scotland (5 yrs) supporting food and drink product innovationAn experienced trainer and consultant supporting companies on a broad front.
