Public Works Administration - Summer Office Assistant

Working with the Town of Bracebridge in 2017 provided me with the both challenging and rewarding experience of optimizing the newly established public transit route. In the early stages, I went to work gathering information to create a better understanding of the transit system and identify issues effecting the ridership. I administered transit surveys throughout the community to collect both rider and non-rider feedback. Through qualitative and quantitative analysis, I extracted core areas needing improvement and compiled a report of my findings to be presented to the Municipal Transit Committee. Based off my findings, it was suggested the transit route be modified to improve its timing efficiency. While considering socio-economic impacts, rider feedback, and the core goals of route restructuring, I developed five alternative routing options, one of which was chosen and implemented by the municipality in January 2018. The experience helped me to further build upon my communication skills in a corporate setting, develop expertise in design from an urban planning perspective, and practice my ability to manage projects effectively in order to meet ongoing objectives for larger scale projects.
