These visualizations were also analyzed in an effort to prioritize resources to better shelters and their residents when transitioning out of homelessness in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Jun 2016 - Aug 2016Student researcherWorked with Professor Minoru Taya in partnership with the Clean Energy Institute to better optimize the transmittance of electrochromic windows (ECW) in an effort to understand the potential applications of switchable devices in residential homes, and identify the merit of using electrochromic windows by creating a computational window model. In this study the oxidation and reduction of the ECW was collected and applied to a real residential home located in Seattle, WA.

Feb 2020 - Jun 2021Student researcher• Worked in the Bioinspired Design of Damage Tolerant Engineered Materials Lab under Dwayne Arola, assisting in the understanding of the fracture resistance mechanisms of mammalian teeth, and the influence of hierarchical design by testing and characterizing enamel in Alligator mississippiensis to provide a measure of brittleness to compare to that of human teeth through nanoindentation and Vickers microhardness tests.• Researched and presented an optimized sample preparation method for alligator enamel characterization to further the development of tougher dental ceramics and multifunctional hybrid materials.• Tested and prepared human third molar samples to identify the impact of storage temperature on enamel cracking through Vickers hardness testing and optical microscope imaging. These PDMS posts underwent shear strength and optical evaluations in an effort to eliminate its drug adsorption characteristics while retaining its mechanical properties for microfluidic devices.

Jan 2021 - Apr 2021International space station research integration intern• Developed Quick Reference Payload Packages (QRPPs) graphically describing, in high level charts, the outcomes, data, and samples for individual research experiments expected to be received from execution onboard the ISS, the methodologies used to obtain those products, and the contribution of each to the experiment objectives for the NG-15, NG-16, and SpX-22 launch.• Assisted the Spanish Communications team with the development of the NASA Ciencia webpage to increase diversity, public interest, and awareness of NASA science and space exploration efforts by translating and formatting NASA articles to accommodate a Latin audience.• Worked with the Applied Sciences Program Earth Science Division to increase NASA's Diversity, Inclusivity, Equity, and Access (DEIA) efforts through the development of a Diversity Pathways Database for future NASA involvement and partnership opportunities.• Assisted the Science Communications team with the development of a social media calendar, and a science days calendar for quick reference to increase the relevance and frequency of NASA social media posts.• Compiled a list of frequently asked questions from a variety of news media channels, schools, and community organizations for future astronaut inflight ISS downlink interviews.• Participated in the NASA GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) Challenge to create a dataset of ground observations to assist in the development of a correction factor for the GOES-16 Satellite to better observations during terminator hours of operation, data retrievals, and to allow for more accurate climate model testing.
