      • One of 120 students in the state of Washington to be competitively selected to participate in the Washington Aerospace Scholars Summer Residency experience. • Completed a series of ten lessons focused on the science of space, NASA history, and the future of space exploration to qualify for a position in the summer experience. • Residency activities included the design of a human mission to Mars, field trips, expert briefings, and hands-on engineering challenges.

These visualizations were also analyzed in an effort to prioritize resources to better shelters and their residents when transitioning out of homelessness in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

      Worked with Professor Minoru Taya in partnership with the Clean Energy Institute to better optimize the transmittance of electrochromic windows (ECW) in an effort to understand the potential applications of switchable devices in residential homes, and identify the merit of using electrochromic windows by creating a computational window model. In this study the oxidation and reduction of the ECW was collected and applied to a real residential home located in Seattle, WA.

      • Worked in the Bioinspired Design of Damage Tolerant Engineered Materials Lab under Dwayne Arola, assisting in the understanding of the fracture resistance mechanisms of mammalian teeth, and the influence of hierarchical design by testing and characterizing enamel in Alligator mississippiensis to provide a measure of brittleness to compare to that of human teeth through nanoindentation and Vickers microhardness tests.• Researched and presented an optimized sample preparation method for alligator enamel characterization to further the development of tougher dental ceramics and multifunctional hybrid materials.• Tested and prepared human third molar samples to identify the impact of storage temperature on enamel cracking through Vickers hardness testing and optical microscope imaging. These PDMS posts underwent shear strength and optical evaluations in an effort to eliminate its drug adsorption characteristics while retaining its mechanical properties for microfluidic devices.
