  Field School Intro to Shark Research Course

  Learnt about shark husbandry, animal care, and conservation. I spent one week on a research vessel and helped catch and collect data on various shark species in Miami Bay. I helped gather data measurements, took blood samples, tissue samples, and tagged sharks. Learnt basic boating skills.

  Organized dorsal fin data using computer software (FinFindR). Went on boat surveys seven times a month to collect photo data on Bottlenose Dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico.Helped with the stranding department. Conducting health care on Kemps Ridley sea turtles in preparation for their release. This included laser therapy, measurements, basic physicals, and tagging. Worked in the Cownose Ray touch pool and educated aquarium guests on rays.

  Animal Educator

  I am an animal eduator and keeper at Barn Hill Preserve in Delaware. My role during the summer season is leading guided tours of our facility and education the public about the animals we have on-site. I lead encounters and provide an exciting and informative experience. I also assist with daily animal care tasks including feedings, diet prep, maintenance and medical care.During the school season, I travel to schools all along the East Coast with 4-5 animals and do education presentations that give students the chance to learn about animals up close. During this time, I am the ole caretaker of the animals. Show less
