Projects and Partnerships I led the AfriLabs team in programmes and partnerships including;- African Union - African Governance Architecture (AGA) Innovation Challenge in Democracy and Governance - funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).- COVIDaction - funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).- Place-based Innovation Activity in Ekiti State - in partnership with the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) Global Alliance Africa.- Inception Phase of the Horizon 2020 (H2020) African European Digital Innovation Hub Bridge (AEDIHB) - funded by the EU.- Inception of the H2020 Long term Europe Africa Partnership on Renewable Energy (LEAP-RE) - funded by the EU.- Inception of the AU Digital and Innovation Fellowship Program - funded by GIZ.- Inception of the Afri-Plastic Challenge in partnership with Nesta Challenges.- Provision of technical assistance to participants of the 2021 Ghana Scaling Innovation Program - a project by Results for Development (R4D).2. Bids and Proposal- I led the AfriLabs partnership with Blue Globe Innovation to design and develop the proposal and bid for the Afri-Plastic Challenge which secured funding of £49,850 with an additional $100,000,000 in the pipeline for the next phase of the project.- I led the proposal development and successful bid for the Place-based Innovation Activity in Ekiti State which was implemented in partnership with KTN Global Alliance Africa.- I led the design and development of the virtual accelerator and an offline capacity building support for grantees and offline innovators respectively, who were supported under COVIDaction.- I led the design and development of a successful proposal to support the UNFPA ESARO and Spotlight Africa Program to Roll out Innovation Support Programs Across Africa.- I was a part of the team that contributed to the development of the Smart Cities Innovation Programme funded by GIZ.   Upon securing funding partnerships for programs, my role was expanded to a Program Operations Manager.In this role, I oversee the operation and coordination of multiple programs including:Fellowship at The Bulb Africa - a holistic tech training & job placement program that equips young people with tech skills and support them to gain employments.- Career Advance - an upskilling program for young professionals looking to build their skills and competitiveness, while advancing their careers.- NextGen - a tech training program for kids that equips school children between the ages of 7 to 17 with in-demand tech skills.Startup Engine - Comprises The Bulb Africa’s Incubator, Accelerator and startup investment program for early-stage startups in the ecosystem.The Bulb Africa Community - A community of vibrant tech talents and stakeholders within The Bulb Africa's community. The Community drives several capacity building initiatives such as tech training scholarships for women in tech, peer learning, and knowledge-sharing activities.Some of my achievements in my first two months include:- Increased each program’s performance by introducing implementing teams to proper planning, scheduling and monitoring of programs activities and timelines.- Improved the Programs team’s efficiency by scheduling Standup calls with each team and providing them hands-on support in program planning and execution.- Minimized programs risks by over 70% by incorporating a project ‘pre-mortem’ strategy across all programs, guiding each team to identify, analyze and develop proactive measures to tackle potential risks.- Solved the challenge of fellows’ (trainees) tuition loan repayments by facilitating alternative repayment options that allow fellows buy more time and repay in a more flexible schedule.- Solved the challenge of low applications and enrollment in Career Advance by redesigning marketing goals to also target corporate organizations to up-skill their staff. Show less As a Grants Writer, I developed several grant and business development proposal tools that have been instrumental in applying for funding. - I developed standard funding proposal templates for grants and product marketing to funders such as international donors, corporate organisations, and government agencies.- I designed a funding application tracking tool for tracking grants and other funding applications. - I led the Growth Team to secure over 100,000 USD from a U.S. funding partner to implement the Bulb Africa's tech talent training program - Fellowship at The Bulb Africa.- I exceeded my required proposal success rate by an additional 12% on my completed funding applications. In my role as a Grants Manager;- I led the development of grants management frameworks for managing program funding. GADA offers youth Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)-based learning experiences that introduce participants to basic drone flight principles, drone engineering, coding & programming, and insight into careers and entrepreneurship in this emerging industry worldwide.In my role as a Partnership Coordinator;- I developed tools and methodologies for mapping out and engaging STEM-focused organizations for funding and partnerships. - I lead public-private partnership engagement with government institutions and corporate partners to sponsor GADA's Drone-focused programs and events.- I successfully secured partnerships with 5+ organizations for funding applications and program scaling across East Africa, West Africa, and North Africa.- I developed standard marketing materials and templates for grant applications to donors including the U.S. Missions across multiple countries.- I successfully facilitated a partnership that powers GADA’s Junior Drone Pilot (JDP) program to be implemented across 3 years (2023 - 2026) in Baltimore. The program envisions a Baltimore where the race and gender gap in STEM education and career is bridged by providing marginalized children and youths with access to quality STEM education, resources and support to pursue STEM careers and be represented in STEM roles.   This assignment, led by Dr. 'Bosun Tijani, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is focused on developing a National Gaming and e-Sports Strategy for the fast-rising Gaming and e-Sports Industry in Nigeria, in line with the federal government’s vision for a technologically-driven economy.The Ministry, recognizing the value of co-creation and the critical role played by industry leaders, extended formal invitations to participants who engaged in multiple workshop sessions where we discussed key issues, reviewed the current state of the ecosystem, and brainstormed strategies to drive the development of the ecosystem and steer Nigeria’s economy towards greater heights.Amongst my several contributions, I recommended:1. Continued and active involvement of the sector players. 2. Being intentional about inclusion across the entire Strategy development and implementation process.3. Leverage existing knowledge, resources and expertise - no need to spend time and resources reinventing the wheel.4. Forge strategic partnerships with industry leaders and join forces in driving key recommendations - I recommended engaging with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Nigeria Office to drive IP-related activities under the Strategy.
