  Having passed my life guarding course, I was employed at Sevenoaks School in 2010 to lifeguard during any swimming activities. I undertake regular training in current lifesaving skills including using a defibrillator. As a shift leader, I was given responsibility for the whole centre, which included setting up all court activities, cleaning, tidying and communicating effectively with work colleagues. I needed to be independent, decisive and organised in my behaviour at all times to ensure all tasks were completed to a high standard. Additionally, I am trained to work on reception dealing with money, answering the phone and upholding good customer service, which was very important on a day to day basis in the centre. Show less

  Primary literacy assistant

  I currently work as a primary literacy assistant in a large primary school in Nottingham, where my main role is to help the children who have the most difficulty in reading. It has proved very important to plan sessions and have questions prepared as it thoroughly benefited their understanding of the words they were reading. It is a great way to gain confidence and experience because the children look up to you as a source of their own learning.
