We developed an early warning model that can predict financial distress of bank borrowers with my thesis supervisor Professor Nurhan Davutyan. To our knowledge it is the first application of Cox PH - Proportional Hazard model in financial distress prediction of bank borrowers. It is important to note that it is also the first such study where only core banking data namely accounting and lending records is used instead of financial statements. This leads us operational efficiency with a high degree of prediction capability. We showed that our model successfully predicts 72.41% of those borrowers who actually defaulted. Show less
