  The Neil Hellman School at Parson's Child and Family

  This spring Maeve developed and taught an eight week course for graduating seniors at the Neil Hellman School at Parson’s Child and Family in Albany. It was a pilot program for the school covered by a recent grant. Maeve was sought out by the school administration as an instructor from the community because of her vast experience in the classroom, teaching students of all levels from elementary school to adults and senior citizens with her previous work at Sunmark Federal Credit Union and her extensive volunteer work in the community. Maeve developed a specialized program for Parson’s that focused on a different life skill each week including savings and banking, credit, resume and interview skills, housing, and budgeting. The class was designed for students who come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and some students with emotional and learning difficulties. Through this program the students have been reached in a small classroom setting and the class has helped to prepare them for living on their own after graduation. Show less

  Saratoga’s Community Credit Union’s mission is to make a meaningful difference in the financial well-being of the members and the communities we serve. Maeve supported this mission by helping to raise awareness of the Credit Union’s products and service in the community; partnering with businesses and nonprofit organizations to help them grow as the credit union did. She built many new partnerships with community groups growing the credit union’s financial education program working with the Saratoga Senior Center and the Girl Scouts of Northeastern NY. She also created relationships with auto dealerships and real estate agents that would benefit not only the credit union and these businesses, but the members that each serve in the community.
