    • Stobo Castle Health Spa

      Feb 2008 - Jun 2011
      Kitchen Porter

At the age of 14 I knew I wanted a job. When I found out Stobo Castle Health Spa employed people from as young as 14, I jumped at the opportunity and I worked for this establishment all the way through high school. I was a kitchen porter and through this job I gained an understanding of how a business and restaurant management ran from a young age. As my employment here progressed, I was entrusted with more responsibility and was taught the basics of food preparation, skills I still use today. This job became the basis of my strong working attitude. Show less

    • Food for Thought

      May 2013 - Aug 2013
      Food Preparation and Waiter

Within this post, I was employed in this small local business. This required café skills - customer interaction, food preparation and till management. I gained an insight in to running a small business, in comparison to larger business I had worked for previously. Throughout the summer, I attained great relationships with customers and was given a lot of responsibility for the running of the shop; including monetary bank deposits, fruit and veg purchasing and making the food.

    • Landscaping and Groundwork Business

      May 2013 - Jul 2013
      Head Gardener and Logistics

In the summer of 2013, I undertook a second job creating my own local business. Due to my rural location and networking, I found that there was huge demand for small gardening jobs in my area. With a car and my own tools, I started working as a gardener in my spare time. As the demand increased, I acquired a good number of clients and my skills developed into home interior development alongside the gardening title. Within this time working for myself, I managed to juggle between two jobs (gardening business and Food for Thought), which developed my logistical skills and clientele management. From this, my time management improved and I was able to work inside and outside during the summer which I thoroughly enjoyed and found extremely rewarding. Show less

    • Greenfield Marquees

      May 2014 - Jul 2016
      Operations Manager

This is potentially the most demanding job I have had. Within this occupation, I was involved in the whole process of Marquee trade and worked alongside a team of 10. My responsibilities involved with loading all the equipment necessary in order to complete numerous jobs in one day. This meant it was my job to make sure every nut and bolt was on the lorries in order to complete our objectives. Following this, we travelled nationwide to festivals, weddings and other events (Including Scottish and National Golf Open) to clear sites and erect marquees to the clients satisfaction. Due to the nature of marquee work, it is a very seasonal profession. During the high point of the season, I was working over 70 hours a week. Consistent manual labour, initiative and problem solving was imperative for the safe and efficient erection of the marquees. With close relationships with the team and boss, I acquired a large amount of business management, team working skills and an extremely hard working attitude. Show less

      Business and Sales Internship

After an extensive interview process, I was accepted into a student development programme to advance our business and sales techniques. Within the internship, I undertook a sales weekend, acquiring techniques and skills to help excel in the world of selling. The internship was in aid for the charity, The Childrens Trust. I spent two weeks adopting the challenging position of door to door selling. I exercised the sales techniques from training, and after the first half of the internship, had the highest ratio of ins to sales ratio. I lived with a team and were in competition against others for the most Long Term Donors (LTD's). Additionally, I undertook a role in creating, assessing and analysing the statistics for my team. The statistics were carried out for my team and the whole region of interns. The data that was received was put to use and helped direct my team to strengthen where they were struggling. This internship was incredibly challenging, however I acquired excellent team skills, sales and business experience and great personal development into the professional world. Show less

Working in this new and upcoming casting company, has given me an insight into the creative industries of film and television.
