Energy Systems Student at University of California, Davis

  • Education

    • Oregon State University

      2014 - 2019
      Bachelors of science Mechanical Engineering

      Took specialized classes in HVAC&R.

    • University of California, Davis

      2021 - 2023
      Masters Energy Systems
  • Experience

    • Energy Experts International

      Jun 2016 - Sept 2017
      Intern

Analyzed the safety of PG&E electric utility infrastructure across California to enable necessary field maintenance. Monitored degradation and clearances of transformers and poles both local at 120/240V and transmission at 115kV/765kV, 2 and 3-wye phase, enabling safe energy efficiency towards net zero emissions.Collaborated with field workers to ensure projects stayed on time and customer safety and performance and satisfaction is consistently maintained in accordance with CPUC and local city regulations.2 summer internship. • PAE Consulting Engineers

      Jun 2018 - Aug 2018
      HVAC Intern

Created HVAC construction submittals & load calculations for direct use by construction teams in accordance with relevant codes, including ASHRAE 62.1 & California Title 24, in a timely fashion. Projects included new buildings & retrofits & expansions. Conducted field visits and referenced existing as-builts and energy operation data, and with retrofits used operation data to verify building performance after redesign. Determined sources of energy losses in building envelope for further efficiency improvements. Estimated carbon emissions of buildings. Communicated information to stakeholders including business leaders and operations teams and construction crews. Show less

    • Environmental Controls Corp.

      Sept 2019 - May 2021
      HVAC Control & Efficiency engineer

Independently redesigned & took leadership of dozens of $500K+ HVAC construction jobs simultaneously to improve energy efficiency, use distributed energy resources including solar efficiently, and save money & aid heat pump electrification. Implemented advanced controls & load profiling, engaged wide variety of stakeholders including equipment manufacturers, facilities, business leads, and construction teams, and took on project management roles. Conducted field visits and used prior operation data in design and verified with energy usage data afterwards. Kept projects moving on time and construction crews busy even during bottlenecks both internal and external to our company by wearing multiple hats and self-acquiring skills as needed. Implemented air quality controls & sensors to keep occupants safe during COVID outbreaks. Show less

    • University of California, Davis

      Sept 2021 - Nov 2022
      Graduate Student Researcher

Worked with wide scope of teams at the plant including operations, management, and facilities, alongside cutting edge researchers at University of California, Davis, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, to develop a net zero carbon pathway implementation strategy $1M+ involving DER solar and integrated resource planning and renewable demand curves for operation of one of the largest dairy farms in California under net metering 3.0. Included analysis and data modeling and technical assessment using System Advisor Model, R, Excel, Python, and basic engineering science. Presented complex technical information to the board in clear actionable pathways of investment and implementation and proof of concept for more industry partners to follow, in food processing and beyond. Included thermal analysis of high temp heat pump implementation at a broad plant level and also specific to processes, boilers, chillers, motors, fans, and control algorithm adjustments. Show less
