      The YMCA Intern Challenge is a summer-long elimination challenge focused on developing leadership, teamwork, and communication skills in the youth and up and coming generation. Put on by the YMCA of Rock River Valley, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to challenge your potential and discover your passions in an environment of safety and support. Competed against 12 other interns in weekly team based challenges that involved a business proposal given to interns by local businesses and presented to the board on the Friday of the same week. Businesses included: BMO Harris Bank, UIC College of Medicine, YMCA of Rock River Valley, Illinois Department of Public Health, The Rockford Aviators(now the Rockford Rivets), Northwestern Illinois Building Trades Unions, and Rockford Health System.
