  · My research focused on the design, fabrication, and measurement of an optomechanical crystal made out of silicon nitride.· Gained experience using COMSOL Multiphysics, a 3D modeling and simulations software. This software was controlled via Matlab in order to automate the search for an optimized geometry.· Used Python to analyze and visualize data, as well as to perform signal processing tasks such as computing Fourier Transforms· Gained knowledge in various nanofabrication techniques, such as physical vapor deposition, electron beam lithography, reactive ion etching, wet etching, scanning electron microscopy, and spectroscopic reflectometry.· Gained various lab skills, including building optical fiber networks and RF circuits, soldering, and using various pieces of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency generators, PIDcontrollers, etc.· Acquired training in the physics department machine shop using machines such as a lathe and a milling machine. I also gained experience using Autodesk Inventor to create part drawings.· Learned how to work collaboratively with the other 11 students in the lab.· Gained valuable written and verbal communication skills through oral and poster presentations, and preparing my thesis.
