Produce external communication pieces such as e-newsletter and special reports to: promote research programs; profile students, staff and faculty; publicize new initiatives. Work with others to advertise newsworthy items and events, and implement changes as appropriate.Manage the department's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube Channel). Foster positive relationships between faculty, students and staff through internal communications.Provide event coordination for orientations, conferences, symposiums, alumni and student gatherings, faculty searches, PESB reviews. Create marketing materials to promote events.Operations:Receive, respond to, and direct public and general inquiries as the first point of contact at the front desk in the School of Educational Studies suite, and as the first point of electronic contact for general inquiries to SES.Manage the SES office, to include file maintenance, phones, mail, reception, ordering supplies, and minor equipment maintenance.Other Duties:Hire and supervise the program's student worker(s).   Educational Technologies Specialist

  The iSchool Learning Technologies Team serves as the primary support team to assist faculty in course development and design using the Canvas Learning Management System. Our team also provides technical support and training for a suite of online tools integrated into Canvas such as VoiceThread, Hypothesis, Feedback Fruits, Panopto and Zoom which support collaboration and learner engagement.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Course building, development and maintenance in the Canvas Learning Management System.• Assist instructors with varying backgrounds and levels of teaching proficiency to learn about and implement new instructional techniques.• Provide training and support to instructors on the use of educational technology tools and best practices for in-person, hybrid, online synchronous/asynchronous course design.• Collaborate with instructors to analyze instructional goals, objectives and timelines to design, develop, and implement courses according to accepted instructional design principles, current research, and accessibility guidelines.• Collaborate with instructors to develop course materials and activities that align with learning objectives and promote active learning in both face-to-face and online environments.• Develop professional development resources for instructos such as workshops, multimedia tutorials, department/program facilitations, and one-on-one consultations.• Create job aids and checklists for faculty to evaluate courses: course mapping process; writing measurable goals; end of term course reviews.• Provide support/training/recommendations to instructors, students & staff about available iSchool technology: - Zoom - Canvas - VoiceThread - Google Apps - Panopto - Screencast-o-matic• Stay current on trends and developments in educational technology and instructional design to inform course design decisions Show less
