      Infection Prevention Intern

I performed surveillance on positive microbiology cultures, multidrug resistant organisms, and hospital acquired infections in a 700-bed acute care hospital. Independently, I performed daily infection prevention work including surveillance, Environment of Care rounds, and communicated with clinical staff. I conducted retrospective surveillance on Serratia marcescens positive cultures from Ascension hospitals after a product recall and determined that there was no influx of positive cultures due to the recall. Lastly, I reviewed all blood cultures in the hospital from 01/2017 through 05/2018 to determine prevalence of repeat blood cultures and assess blood culturing stewardship. Show less
