  At the Vista Cancer in Lindenhurst and Gurnee, I had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Kapadia who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of blood diseases and cancers. During my time spent with him, I had the opportunity to view procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, aspirations, chemotherapy, and the course of treatment of many of the patients that he sees. This opportunity has allowed me to experience what a typical day is like in the shoes of a physician and has given me great exposure to the practice of oncology and hematology. Show less

  Undergraduate researcher in Dr. Roitman's laboratory of integrative neuroscience, which is interested in determining the neural basis of normal motivated behaviors including feeding and drinking as well as maladaptive behaviors. Studied how alcohol, cannabinoid, and psychostimulant use during adolescence affects prefrontal cortex activity and choices about probabilistic and delayed rewards in adulthood.

  I had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Roger N. Chams, who is a board certified orthopedic surgeon that practices in the Lake County area. Dr. Chams has been awarded to the “Top Tier MD”, “Chicago’s Top Doctor”, American Registry “Patient’s Choice”. He has been selected to “America’s Top Orthopedists “by the Consumer Research Counsel of America for the last 12 years. During my time spent with him I had the privilege of observing minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of complex knee and shoulder issues and sports injuries. Show less
