      I started as a tutor and taught at least one class for my entire time at Achieve. I founded and taught in Achieve's SAT Test Preparation Program from June of 1986 to June of 1990. I served as Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing from September 1986 to July of 1990. I founded and served as the first Principal of Achieve Preparatory Academy from August 1988 to July of 1990. I served as President of the organization from July of 1990 to June of 1996.

      As principal of Kettle Falls Middle School, I served as the instructional leader for grades five through eight. My duties included supervision, evaluation, curriculum leadership and reform, budget management, reporting monthly to the superintendent and board of directors, and serving on committees. I also taught math during my time at Kettle Falls Middle School.

      As Superintendent of the Valley School District I served as the Chief Executive Officer responsible for all aspects of the organization. I increased school enrollment by 71% over 14 years by attracting local families to choose the district over neighboring districts. Under my leadership, the district founded a statewide virtual academy that grew to the second largest in the State of Washington by offering an alternative to families and partnering with 14 school districts across the state. I led a successful capital campaign resulting in four major modernization and new construction projects over seven years. I founded an innovative transportation cooperative that cut transportation costs for a consortium of 14 school districts. I increased revenues from $1 million to $12 million over 14 years. I founded an innovative high school under special legislation passed in 2010 resulting in the only innovative high school operating under this new law in Washington State. I founded a much needed childcare and preschool through the school district. I provided professional training and college level credit programs for teachers and administrators. For all but two years of my time at the Valley School District, I taught at least one class, usually algebra, but also a year and a half of Latin for Paideia High School. Show less
