  I was appointed by the state of Washington to serve the DEL and advise on projects to meet the organization’s mission of providing voluntary, high-quality early learning opportunities for children and families in Washington and to support all early learning professionals with research-based professional development and resources. In this role, I:►Reported to the State Director as county representative serving as voice of 31K families and their children while advising DEL on new policy initiatives, regulations, and changes to child care laws. ►Created a comprehensive, web-based Child Care Check Tool in collaboration with DEL to increase oversight of child care centers and to standardize the oversight process. Searchable database and app for parents and care givers to find child care status and records, background checks, licensing history, and monitoring reports. ►Developed a strategic plan, quality rating and improvement system, and Child Care and Development Fund Plan, which was the primary source of federal funding for child care subsidies for low-income working families and funds to improve child care quality.►Selected by Director to rewrite State’s benchmarks of Early Learning Guidelines to help increase the quality of care and education in centers throughout the state. These benchmarks provide essential information to support and enhance children’s development and learning for caregivers, parents, and early learning teachers. Show less
