      Led execution of operations, planning, intelligence, and logistics for a tank company of 70 Soldiers operating at a base north of Seoul near the demilitarized zone between South and North Korea. After six months in the company, I led logistics operations for the mechanized battalion of 700 Soldiers. Led 20 Soldiers through counterinsurgency operations in Baghdad. For most of this deployment, we provided a quick reaction force capability to emergent situations in western Baghdad.

      Commander of a ground reconnaissance troop in the 2d Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2d Infantry Division, deployed to Kandahar from April to August 2012. Over two years, I built a team of 200 Soldiers and experts in reconnaissance and security operations, then led five months of decentralized execution by seven platoons from three combat outposts in the Arghandab Valley adjacent to Kandahar. Second in command and chief of staff of a provisional battalion of 500 Soldiers, projecting support for an Army brigade of 5,000 Soldiers deployed to Afghanistan. Focused on reception, staging, onward integration, and onboarding of replacement personnel, casualty operations including oversight of medical evacuation, patient care, and support to next of kin, and facilities maintenance. Member of a 14-member team advising an Afghan National Army battalion with 400 Soldiers in a remote region of southern Afghanistan. Also served as the team's operations and logistics officer, synchronizing integration of intelligence and operational enablers plus expeditionary life support.

I joined the Explorers Club as a term member with their Rocky Mountain Chapter during graduate school, and am now active with the New York City headquarters group. I became a Fellow in 2017, and am one of four members of the Public Lectures Committee. In 2024, Club members elected me to the Board of Directors in the Class of 2027.

      Officer-in-charge of operations, including planning and intelligence synchronization, of an armored brigade with 2,500 Soldiers, replicating a division tactical group from a peer adversary to the United States. After my first year leading operations in the Regiment's First Squadron, I led operations for the entire Regiment with a staff section of 40 teammates. Our Regiment provided the world's premier professional opposing force at the Army's National Training Center; my special focus areas were information warfare, cyberspace and electromagnetic activities, unmanned aerial systems and drone swarms, and innovating multidomain operations doctrine.
