    • Puladir Investment Casting Corporation

      Jan 1999 - Jan 2003
Designer and metallurgist (Product Development Engineer)

      • Calculated and designed (gating systems, casting temperature, riser and material) for new components in various alloys to make sure all factors are optimized by minimum defects. Followed internal processes to achieve quality requirements, Processed ECN/ECR and customer satisfaction as part of day to day duties. • Inspected and tested prototypes to ensure satisfaction of contractual requirements (physical, alloy, hardness…) prior to mass production.• Used Quality Control methods (APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and FMEA) to improve process up to the heat treatment. Achievements: • Redesigned and improved Investment casting and achieved 4% reduction of defective parts resulting in 6% revenue increase.• Introduced an innovative formula to calculate the casting temperature with -/+10 degree Error for investment casting. • Redesigned and improved Investment casting by using quality control method like: DFMEA, PFMEA, and FMEA to achieved 4% reduction of defective parts resulting in 6% revenue increase.• Introduced an innovative formula to calculate the casting temperature with -/+10 degree Error for investment casting. Creation happens by using documents of record for each batch in production line.• Produced a wide range of metal parts and components for: automotive industry, heavy duty valves, Rail way switch machine, tools, Agriculture Industry, Cement production factory, Boiler's components etc.• Developed work instruction and processes according to quality assurance management processes (ISO 9000) and QS to improve quality and reduce defects.• Achieved expertise in Testing Materials, Hardness, Metallographic, Coating and Corrosion, Endurance and Non-destructive testing (NDT). • Caterpillar Tunneling Canada Corporation (formerly Lovat Inc.)

      May 2006 - Jun 2010
      Mechanical design engineer

Responsibility: • Create layout, determine material, parts specification and design 3D models of equipments.• Train co-op students, review their design, drafting and calculation.• Prepare shop drawing, review the designs of components, assemblies and accessories to make sure of their correctness and accuracy. • Provide technical support to sales, production and project management for clarifications.• Coordinate the designs and details drawings with the other engineering departments to ensure project goal achievement.• Use MS project to manage budget and schedule.Achievements: • Created innovative method for fabricating CrC Tubes with higher precision and lowered cost by %25. • Consulted Refurbished and modified TBM which were designed for 4 Bars to be able to work at 7 Bars. My duty was to lead Screw Conveyor team to adjust and improve existing Screw Conveyor that designed by myself for 4 Bars to handle 7 Bars. It was the first time in the history of the company that a TBM worked on more than 5 Bars.• Designed 15 whole Screw Conveyor of different sizes which were used successfully in 20 TBM’s. • Designed three new peripheral (single & double Drive) and three in line Drive Assembly. Experienced work with transmissions, gears, shafts, motors and rotating equipment. Improved sealing system for rotating equipment and reduced cost by replacing costly seal and machining time. Redesigned 4 Drive’s sealing systems to be matched with existing parts for Screw Conveyors.• Reviewed parts of Screw conveyor and made a set of standard conveyors which could be customized to the specifications of the new projects resulted in significant time and cost saving.
