  Team Leader - Surveillance Detachment

  I served as a team leader on a surveillance detachment and deployed to the Middle East in support of OEF. I was responsible for aspects of mission planning, training, supervision of soldiers, and leading teams during various operations. I was tasked with providing various reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities, which allowed for accurate and timely intelligence updates to battlefield commanders, in order to assist them with combat operations.   I served as a patrol officer and helped to pioneer a criminal interdiction team where I was later assigned. I conducted a variety of criminal investigations relating to narcotics, human trafficking, and prostitution and interfaced with local businesses to develop crime prevention strategies and community oriented policing. I helped establish working relationships with local and federal law enforcement partners which fostered a collaborative investigative effort against criminal activity in the county.   Serving as a criminal investigator I was assigned as a Task Force Officer (TFO) for U.S. Homeland Security Investigations. I investigated crimes relating to narcotics trafficking, human trafficking, currency violations and smuggling. I developed and maintained a working relationship with other federal law enforcement agencies and at times, assisted with a variety of multi-agency investigations throughout the State of Vermont.

  Serving as a trainer and investigator, I was responsible for managing the agency's firearms program, tactical medic program and CPR & first aid programs. I formerly served as a patrol officer and was a member and key contributor in the establishment and development of our Emergency Response Unit (ERU). I served as an adjunct instructor at the Vermont Police Academy, where I provided instruction and training to aspiring police recruits in a variety of disciplines. I served as one of the agency's foremost instructors in active threat response and rescue task force operations, and was instrumental in developing the agency's protocols for inter-agency operations with the Burlington Fire Department as it pertains to Active Shooter & Hostile Event Response.
