  Throughout the years I spent at Wilmer & Lee, PA, I gained various responsibilities and engaged in additional tasks that were outside of my starting position. My main responsibility included assisting over thirty lawyers with preparing and filing client’s case files within the firm’s database while also helping to enhance the firm’s relationship with clients. I also recorded estate closings, deposited payoffs for estate closings, distributed and gathered documents to and from clients, and filed subpoenas in order to process serve those who needed to be called into court. Because the firm functioned on efficiency and timeliness, I had to collaborate with various internal and external people to accomplish tasks within specific deadlines. Show less

  Technical Writer Intern

  As a technical writer intern, I assisted other technical writers on my Scrum team with improving technical documents that detailed the methods and procedures of using Intergraph products. To become familiar with these products, I analyzed the technical procedures by conducting usability tests. I then used Author-it to compose workflow documents, edit documents that no longer adhered to updated products, and translated inconsistent lists into workflow processes.   I taught English 101 and English 102 at UAB. Teaching Philosophy:Freshman composition courses are vital in providing students with the foundation needed for their future collegiate and professional writing careers. I endeavor to help students comprehend the connection between rhetorical elements within writing an English paper and their future writing in other departments. By understanding how they can write across the disciplines, I believe students will strive to analyze and implement rhetoric on a daily basis. In order to further develop these analytical skills, I implement technology within the classroom to show the multi-modality of communication. Show less I was an online tutor at the UWC where I offered asynchronous and synchronous tutoring opportunities. While any student enrolled in an online course can receive online tutoring, I mostly assisted students within the sciences, more specifically UAB Nursing School. Because online tutoring removes the physical connection of a face-to-face session, I believe my feedback to students had to be direct and efficient. Some semesters, I also offered face-to-face tutoring sessions where I assisted students from all disciplines with understanding their assignment and brainstorming, writing, and revising their papers. For my own academic curriculum, I pursued courses and completed projects that would enhance my current skills and develop new knowledge. In an agile environment, I collaborate with SE leads, developers, and testers to plan, execute, and revise all written materials as the software is updated. Additionally, I create technical drawings of hardware, software architecture diagrams, and sequence diagrams.
