Significant experience in special staining techniques including Periodic Acid Schiff, Gram, and Perls Prussion Blue.

      Manage Preclinical Pharmacology in vivo Team - reporting to the Preclinical Pharmacology Associate Scientist:• Develop and maintain mouse models of cancer (Circulating Tumour Cell derived explant/CDX models), specifically Small Cell Lung Cancer• Project management of all in vivo studies conducted within CEP, including collaborations with other academic institutes and pharmaceutical companies.• Supervise small, medium and long term in vivo studies supporting PhD students and Post-Doctoral Scientists within the group.• Alternative Contact (Deputy) on Home Office Project Licence, designing and writing protocols ensuring all aspects of the project design are covered by the PPL; co-ordinate animal orders and completing Home Office Returns for CEP in vivo studies.• Carry out data analysis for all in vivo efficacy/pharmacodynamics studies, presenting findings to group leaders/senior scientists/peers, as well as at both internal and external meetings.• Manage a team of 6 in vivo technicians, conducting regular 1-2-1 meetings, encouraging their development and ensuring they are receiving as much training as possible to achieve their individual goals.• Collaborate with other groups within the institute, supervising/assisting with training in specialist techniques/protocols.• Effectively troubleshoot problems through proactive liaison with other in vivo technicians and Senior Scientists.• Active member of the CRUK MI AWERB, working to refine animal use within the Institute.
