The ideal system consists of a… Show more Project Thesis: AUTOMATION OF MATERIAL HANDLING ARRANGEMENT FOR A 25-TON VERTICAL PRESSThe steel bush pressing operation of a draft yoke was carried out in a vertical press. The work piece, draft yoke, that had to be pressed, weighed approximately 22-25 Kilograms. This job had to be loaded and unloaded repeatedly from the machine causing undue strain to the operator. An efficient material handling process was proposed to the company. The ideal system consists of a combination of a hydraulic leveller and a ball transfer system for the in-feed arrangement. The hydraulic lift is used to lift a load of relatively high magnitude by applying less effort. Ball transfers are industrial conveyors that use balls to transport products and materials by rolling. • Future research work was undertaken by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, India, for the automated material handling system proposed during the project thesis.
