My time on Camp Pendleton was spent as a quality control specialist and a tool issue supervisor. My main role as a quality control specialist included an in depth technical inspection of each optic before it was returned to ensure perfection and a well taken care of customer. I also required and maintained a high level of efficiency from the repair technicians I was in charge of by creatively setting certain daily goals. It sparked enthusiasm in the workers and I would often would see a higher output of repaired optics. After switching roles to the tool issue supervisor I took on the management of over $15 million worth of tools and repair equipment. This job had many internal daily tasks including, ensuring up to date modifications on equipment software and hardware, on time calibrations of over 200 items, creating and maintaining a technical repair manual library for all optical devices, and conducting preventative maintenance on generators, air conditioners, trailers and vehicles. Show less Working as the supervisor of the entire optical maintenance section, this is where I learned key skills such as problem solving and the welfare of the people on my team. During this period of time, I travelled to 8 different countries through the use of naval vessels while conducting maintenance operations. In such a high stress and changing environment, it was necessary to have good communication and creativity to solve abnormal problems such as manufacturing a tool I didn't have, but required to fix sights. Due to my ability to troubleshoot and repair optical devices very efficiently, I was often hand picked by my supervisor to be flown to different ships to conduct maintenance on essential pieces of gear. Aside from the maintenance repair aspect, I also tracked working hours and ordered required parts and tools through the use of a maintenance and supply website called Global Combat Support System - Marine Corps. Possessing all this knowledge in my job, I was considered the subject matter expert and was required to brief higher level supervisors. Show less
