Operation Kuyasheshwa – in Zulu meaning To Speed Up – the decrease of waiting times which I was a regular contributor – I provided information to better the current programme and thus decreased their waiting times from 90 minutes to 15 minutes. The medication is prepacked before-hand and labelled accordingly. Copies of the repeat prescriptions are kept in the pharmacy and these are used to prepack medication. Although the programme was running when I arrived, I was an active member of the team to advise further on the programme through trial and error to come to the perfect programme.Initiated the hospitals first ever ward rounds which concentrated on storage of stock as well as missed antibiotic doses.Osizweni Clinic (HIV/AIDS) which only deals with HIV/AIDS patients - check, pick and pack patients charts as well as involved with doctors to determine the correct dosages for paediatrics patients based on body weight as well as changing of medication of adults in terms of CD4 count as well as secondary infectionsFar East Rand Hospital Antibiotic Stewardship programme started as a trial and was met with great enthusiasm.I was also involved in the following:Reading, preparing and dispensing of schedule 0-6 medicine of a patient’s folder, as well as other control substancesCompounding, manipulation and preparation of non-sterile medicines, as well as sterile medicinesPicking and packaging of medicinesProvision of information in order to promote healthOrdering, checking and unpacking of stockCycle counts of stock and stock management Show less
