      Participated in an educational and cultural exchange program between the University of Maine's Forestry Bioproducts Research Institute and the University of Concepción's (Chile) Technology Development Unit (NSF Award # 1461116). Spent 9 weeks researching the effects of recycled wood ash as a soil amendment, including pH, plant biomass, and microbiological activity. Standardized two enzyme assays.

Research focused on the intersection of agriculture and artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) in Colombia, identifying the opportunities and challenges for sustainable food production and water resource management in mining contexts.
