      Dr. Lisa Winstead has a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction (emphasis in language, literacy and culture) from the University of the Pacific. She has published in academic journals, reviews biographies (e.g., Satchel Paige by Larry Tye) and has begun writing her first fictional novel "The Artifact, A María Guerrero Mystery." Dr. Winstead speaks and writes in Spanish and French, with conversational fluency in Japanese. She has a master's in International Relations and study abroad experiences in Japan (Waseda University), France (Lyon II), and Mexico (Preparatora del Noroeste). Dr. Winstead is a consultant about developing intercultural relations competence in businesses, international education, study abroad, dual immersion, bilingual education, as well as ESL/EFL/ESOL, She develops curriculum and instructional materials as well as webinars. Over the years she's consulted about peer-to-peer learning, provided guidance to learners of second and foreign languages. Experiences including work as a bilingual reporter for (ABC, Sacramento) Progreso have influenced her research in heritage and bilingual education, migrant education, second language acquisition, as well as technological approaches that provide access to language learners globally in socially just and responsive ways.       Dr. Lisa Winstead is an Associate Professor in Elementary and Bilingual Education at California State University, Fullerton and the Spanish Bilingual Authorization Coordinator. She teaches education courses in Spanish as well as English. Courses taught include English Learner Methods and Inquiry, Bilingual Methods, Latinos in Education, Social Studies, Educational Research. Authored publications in scholarly peer-reviewed journals include "From ELLs to Bilingual Teachers...Experiences of Language Shame and Loss" in Multicultural Education, “Apprehension and Motivation Among Adolescent Dual Language Peers” in Language and Education, “Coming to Voice: Preparing Bilingual-Bicultural Teachers for Social Justice” in Equity and Excellence in Education, and “A Journey to Medieval China: Using Technology-Enhanced Instruction to Develop Content and Digital Literacy Skills” in The Social Studies Journal.
