  • Experience

    • Hernandez Biomechanics Lab

      Jun 2012 - Jan 2015
      Microfluidic Engineer

Led a small group of graduate students on the research of the mechanical properties of bacterial cells, working under the PI. Currently second author on a paper being submitted to publication. My responsibilities included experiment design, cell culturing, various forms of microscopy, image analysis, troubleshooting, and computer modeling to aid in microfluidic design.

    • Cornell University

      Aug 2013 - Dec 2013
Teaching Assistant for BEE 3310: Bio-Fluid Mechaics

Responsible for grading papers and exams, holding office hours, and developing a problem set and case study for the class. Hand selected by the professor after demonstrating aptitude for the coursework.

    • Rheonix, Inc

      Sept 2015 - Mar 2018
      Systems Integration Engineer

I work with the biology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software, manufacturing, quality, sales, and regulatory departments to integrate engineering developments into the product platform, to develop characterization experiments, and to perform optimization and troubleshooting in preparation for new product launches and clinical trials. This includes hands on laboratory work as well as writing some of the computer programming to enable for assay automation. This role has also developed to include occasional instrument installation, training, and customer support at large customer sites around the world. • OrthoFit Inc

      Apr 2016 - Sept 2017
      Product Development Engineer, Co-Founder

I worked to develop a wearable device that would analyze wrist motions for assembly line workers in order to reduce the incidence of repetitive motion injuries. I started by reaching out to potential markets to understand the requirements for a viable product then worked to develop the first prototype as a proof of concept. Once that was completed, I spent time characterizing the input from the variety of sensors on the gloves to be able to interpret different motions. Finally, I wrote a Python script that would automate the data analysis, receiving feedback from accelerometers, gyroscopes, and pressure sensors to output ten metrics and two common "scores" used by OSHA to estimate repetitive motion injury risk. While I was a member, Orthofit was involved in several programs to teach us the skills required to launch a company. These included the Cornell Center for Materials Research, eHub, and Rev Ithaca Startup Works. Show less

    • Stryker

      Mar 2018 - now

I am responsible for coordinating the progress of robotic hardware, surgical instrumentation, and embedded software for surgical robotic applications. This involves managing timelines and resources, developing and tracking requirements and risk control measures, and working closely with designers, test engineers, program managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the product meets the goals. I am responsible for leading the development and coordination of Module and Sub-System Level Requirements that flow from higher level Customer and System Requirements. Additionally, I support system design, integration, design reviews, verification and validation of multidisciplinary systems, technologies and feasibility efforts including robotic systems, embedded software, electronics, mechanisms, cutting systems and surgical navigation systems to deliver robotic-assisted orthopaedic solutions.
