  Minwaashin Lodge - Aboriginal Women’s Support Centre is founded on a feminist and decolonizing framework which supports women and children impacted by abusive relationships, in order to bring balance to the general aboriginal community. Minwaashin Lodge services include a women and children’s shelter, transitional support, sex worker support, counselling and family support team, art therapy, traditional support through elder guidance; cultural, employment, and youth programs. As a whole, the agency also takes part in advocacy activities around violence against women and aboriginal women’s rights. The creative arts are integrated into many of the healing programs. The Art Therapy program provides individual, family and group art therapy to children ages 5 to 15 years old, who may be experiencing emotional or social difficulties due to the impacts of domestic violence. The art therapy program provides support to children and their families to promote healthy emotional and social development through art expression (painting, drawing, traditional crafts, sandplay, play, theatre and movement).
