  Activities and Societies: Full time student. Worked as a financial analyst at the Bank of South Australia for 3 months during my student break in 1987-1988. This was an interesting team role analyzing loans. The bank collapsed the next year! BSc (Hons) Mechanical Engineering - 1970 to 1974 (majored in Thermodynamics et al) before joining SIPM and immediately heading off to Qatar for 3 years to the offshore operations of the Shell Company of Qatar at the age of 21 years. The FIFO schedule was 6 months on and 1 month off which might surprise some Western Australians lining up at the Perth Domestic airport. These were very formative years and great fun. You could here us coming a mile away.In 1974 oil was US$2/bbl and the first oil production had just started in the North Sea from the Buchan field from a converted Aker H3 semi submersible. When I was working in Aberdeen in 1979, oil had risen to US$40/bbl. Quite an oil shock. Show less
