      I attended Union as a half-commuter student, living on campus for 2-3 days at a time and then heading home to Smithfield to live as a wife to Robin, a mother to Smokey and Sweetface (our furry children), a daughter and a sister. The classes I enjoyed the most while at Union were Theology and Literature (taught by the late Dr. John Trotti), preaching and worship classes, taught by Beverly Zink-Sawyer and later by Paul Galbreath, and New Testament, The Gospel of John and Hebrews to Revelation… Show more I attended Union as a half-commuter student, living on campus for 2-3 days at a time and then heading home to Smithfield to live as a wife to Robin, a mother to Smokey and Sweetface (our furry children), a daughter and a sister. I felt it was important for me to engage in this kind of ministry before becoming a parish pastor, as visitation is an essential part of what ministers are called to do. While at Riverside, I was assigned to visit individuals being treated for kidney problems in the dialysis unit. I also visited frequently in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit, as well as a general wing of hospital rooms. In addition to my hospital rounds, I visited weekly at Warwick Forest Nursing Facility and established relationships with a number of the long-term residents there. Show less
