      Jul 2009 - Jun 2022
      English Language Instructor

I began working as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) as a member of the JET Program in 2009. As an ALT, I regularly plan lessons, coordinate with a team-teaching partner, and participate in various activities--including club sports and events--to engage with my students outside the classroom. My efforts and abilities have been recognized by both my peers and my superiors. By my peers, I was elected as a Regional Representative for JET Program participants in my area for two years in a row. As Regional Rep. my duties included: providing counseling and guidance for JET participants, ranging from guidance with everyday living issues to conflict resolution counseling. I organized and led all regional meetings of JET participants, as well as met with Regional Reps. from other areas to discuss ways to improve efficiency and efficacy on the JET Program.By my superiors, I was also recognized by being chosen to lead workshops for both ALTs and native Japanese teachers of English, on topics ranging from basic classroom English phrases to classroom management and student motivation techniques. I also had my own original lesson plans published in a Team Teaching Handbook every year from 2009 to 2013. My employers were so pleased with my work that even after I finished my 5-year tenure on the JET Program, they asked me to stay and continue working as a privately contracted English instructor.
