    • AMKFSC Community Services Ltd

      Jul 2019 - Jul 2019
      Summer Intern

During this internship duration, I was exposed to the plethora of projects under the Ang Mo Kio Family Services Centre. At Bakery Hearts, I witnessed the proud moments and limitations of a social enterprise, as well as the ingrained cultural expectations of social work. To address the limitations, I suggested several ideas utilising technology to reach a broader customer base for the baked goods the women made (e.g. using Instagram to post aesthetic photos of the goods and using the omnipresent Uber Eats platform).During my time there, I also participated in several home visits and interacted with children in the primary school at Spright Academy, where I taught the children in science, mathematics, and English, and guiding them to appreciate the vast applications of their knowledge. As part of an effort to understand Singapore, I partook in several interviews near Chinatown, from the HDBs to the local shopkeepers. I also proposed and worked on a game for the family-friendly National Day Observance event. Show less
