      Paraprofessional

As a paraprofessional with the Desert Recreation District, I supplemented K-2nd grade students' classroom learning by assisting them with homework, tutoring them in reading and writing, and by facilitating games and activities focusing on subjects not taught at their schools (music, natural sciences, dance, art, etc). My main recreational focuses were nature exploration, music and dance due to my background. I also taught ballroom dance to 4th-5th grade students, and chaperoned them on field trips. I collaborated with teachers, parents and other para-pros to ensure our students' success. Show less

In addition to teaching inquiry-based, student-centered curriculum based on California's state education standards for 4th and 5th grade, naturalists at San Joaquin Outdoor School focused on the 'wonder' of nature, and the interdependent relationship between humans and the environment.

    • The Salvation Army

      May 2014 - now

As a program coordinator, my primary responsibility is to ensure the programs within the Arts, Education and Youth department are maintained at the highest level of quality, and that these programs are constantly aligned with the missions of The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Kroc Corps & Community Center. This includes staffing, budgeting, proposals, execution, evaluation and modification.Since the success outcome of a program is directly related to the staff facilitating a program, I prioritize the professional and personal development of the staff members that are in my care. I truly believe that by ensuring the mission is met for my employees, the missions of both The Salvation Army and the Kroc will be met. Show less
